PICES 2024 50x50 Exhibition

PICES was thrilled to debut its 50x50 Exhibition as part of its sixth annual Summer Exhibition Series, presented in proud partnership with the Bass Coast Shire Council. Held at the stunning Berninneit Art Gallery in Cowes on Phillip Island, the exhibition opened on December 14 and ran through to January 1, 2025. This exciting new format featured the work of 50 contemporary artists, each presenting a up to 5 50x50 or smaller cm works, creating a vibrant and cohesive showcase of creativity, diversity, and talent.

The response to the 50x50 Exhibition was overwhelmingly positive. Visitors were delighted by the wide variety of styles, techniques, and subject matter, with many remarking on the quality and uniqueness of the works on display. The accessible format of the exhibition, with smaller works at more affordable price points, proved a winning formula—many pieces were snapped up by collectors and art lovers alike. It also attracted seasonal shoppers looking for a special Christmas gift, with artworks offering a personal and lasting alternative to traditional presents.

The success of the 50x50 Exhibition highlights the continued strength of the Summer Exhibition Series and reinforces the growing reputation of PICES as a champion of regional contemporary art. The partnership with Bass Coast Shire Council, and the support of the Berninneit Art Gallery, provided the perfect platform to introduce this new initiative, which we hope will become a much-loved feature in future exhibition calendars. The energy, enthusiasm, and engagement from both artists and the community made this debut a truly memorable celebration of creativity.
