The calibre of artists participating in the past (2020 – 2023) PICES Pop Up Summer Exhibitions exemplifies the high standard of original and contemporary work that PICES continues to present to Phillip Island’s local and visiting public.

As I visit each artist’s studio for discussion and selection of works for exhibition, I continue to be not only impressed by the originality and variety of works offered, but by the artists’ shared enthusiasm for PICES initiative. 

​

The artworks selected, predominantly from within the Bass Coast and Gippsland regions, and to a lesser degree, metropolitan Melbourne, amply demonstrate the diversity and integrity of works sought.

​

Irrespective of whether the individual artist is of short-term or long-term standing, emerging or experienced, the works offered for exhibition reflect the artists’ wholehearted commitment to show works that are imaginative and contemplative, intriguing and evocative, and which, overall, yield an emotive response from the viewing audience.

​

This year, particularly, I look forward to sharing the rewarding enthusiasm of the artists who have either exhibited in earlier exhibitions, or about to show in their first PICES Pop Up exhibition.
