Discover Contemporary Art on Phillip Island & Bass Coast

Phillip Island Contemporary Exhibition Space (PICES) is a not-for-profit community arts organisation presenting contemporary art exhibitions in Cowes on Phillip Island, within the Bass Coast region.

​​Working in partnership with Bass Coast Shire Council, PICES delivers a vibrant annual exhibition program at Berninneit Cultural Centre, showcasing artists from Bass Coast and beyond. Our exhibitions connect artists with the community, offering engaging, accessible and thought-provoking contemporary art experiences.

Run by a passionate team of volunteers, PICES supports both emerging and established artists through curated exhibitions and open entry opportunities, including the annual Small Works Exhibition and Contempora exhibitions.

​2026–2027 Summer Exhibition Series

Join us at Berninneit in Cowes for our upcoming exhibitions:

• Small Works Exhibition: 18 December – 28 December 2026
• Contempora 1: 31 December 2026 – 14 January 2027
• Contempora 2: 16 January – 31 January 2027

Each Contempora exhibition concludes with an Artist Insights Forum, offering visitors the opportunity to hear directly from exhibiting artists and gain deeper insight into their work and creative practice.
